Baked pizza dip with pepperoni and melted mozzarella

Spicy Pizza Dip with TABASCO® Cayenne Garlic Sauce

Pizza dip is a pepperoni pizza you eat with a breadstick. A garlicky cream cheese layer on the bottom, tomato sauce and mozzarella on top, pepperoni through it, baked until the edges bubble.

TABASCO® Cayenne Garlic Sauce is the right bottle for this. It leads with garlic rather than heat, which is why it suits Italian food better than the Original Red does. Twenty five minutes, and it feeds six to eight people.

Ingredients

  • 200 g cream cheese, softened
  • 100 g sour cream or creme fraiche
  • 1-2 tbsp TABASCO® Cayenne Garlic Sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 150 g pizza or pasta sauce (or passata with a pinch of sugar)
  • 150 g grated mozzarella
  • 50 g pepperoni or salami, chopped
  • 1/4 green pepper, diced
  • warm bread, breadsticks or tortilla chips, to serve

Preparation

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
  2. Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, TABASCO® Cayenne Garlic Sauce and oregano until smooth, then spread it over the base of a small baking dish.
  3. Spoon the pizza sauce over that, then add the mozzarella, pepperoni and green pepper.
  4. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until it is bubbling at the edges and browned on top.
  5. Add a little more TABASCO® and serve hot, with bread or chips for dipping.

Notes

Swap the pepperoni for mushrooms and olives to make it vegetarian. Sliced jalapeños on top work if you want more bite.

For a smokier dip, use Chipotle instead of the Cayenne Garlic. Both sit in the mild to medium part of the range.
